Police threat contnues: Maudany

Madhyamam reports:

Thiruvananthapuram: Abdul Nasir Maudany said that some police officers are trying hard to dissuade his followers and colleagues from him and the party
by threatening and enticing them. For the last two days they have been trying to catch some prominant leaders and threaten them. This is a deliberate, pre-planned attempt to frustrate my movement, he said. No senior officers in Kerala police or politicians have any role in this drama, he said adding he got the information that the conspiracy was being worked out as per the direction of National Investigative Agency (NIA) and Karnataka Police. Maudany was speaking to Madhyamam at the Trivandrum medical college, where he was undergoing treatment.
They are trying to keep those who are likely to protest, in case my wife and I were arrested, from me. 'Karnatka police vehicles are roaming around the house of some of my friends. They threaten them by showing a list of names, including theirs, marked with red ink. I think there is conspiracy behind all these. What wrong have I done for me to be targetted like this, he asked. ISS was formed at a critical juncture in 1992 , when I had to speak in a 'high-pitched' voice. After Babri demolition, I disbanded ISS and formed PDP, which was a secular fabric within which the youth can continue their political actvism. None of them had any truck with extremist movements. If at all they were to join such forces, it may be out of their frustration over the continuing injustice against me, Maudany said.
'I came out of prison with serious diseaseses. If they want to torture me again, let it be so. What if they think that was the only way to unweed terrorism,' he said. 'They attempted to entice and threaten the Malayali Prisoners who were with me in Tamil Nadu to give statement again me, but in vain. They told these prisoners that they would present a Tamilian against me. They are desperate enough to prove that I have used mobile phone in Coimbatore. They harassed and tempted many people to state that I hid that phone inside the orifice of a tree. There was jammer in the jail. How can it be possible for me to phone under the security scanner,' Maudany asked.
'It is said that they are trying to arrest me on the evidence given by Thadiyantavide Naseer. But I was informed that Naseer said neither my wife nor I had any connection with the Kalamassery bus burning case. Kerala police have not yet questioned Naseer regarding the case. Soofiya phoned this person regarding the marriage proposal of a girl who worked in my house, while I was in prison. I have revealed this many times. The attempt is to get Soofiya arrested with the permission of the court after it was given 13 points against me and Soofiya. I understand that although Naseer was given the offer that he would be made only a witness against me, if he agreed to the points, he said no,' Maudany said.

PDP march: The message of unity

The PDP march having been held for the last 17 days the state over was concluded almost with a finish in Trivandrum. The valedictory function held at Vettimuricha Kotta, Trivandrum, was inaugurated by Ajith Sahi of Tehelka, a journalist who dares to speak out. He exhorted people to stand united irrespective of religion and caste for the common good of the country. This is the only antidote to the communal anger which Fascist forces with the help of US imperalism vent, he said.
The Tehelka editor launched www.maudany.com at the function
MY MESSAGE: My message is, and will always be, clear: I will keep people united under the banner of People's Democratic Party against all forces which divide and rule and reap profits out of dismembered human limbs. I am against all types of imperialism and communal fascism. And, occassionally, I put forth the demand for implementing reservation proportional to democracy so that people in all sectros can take advantage out of that.
I exhorted people not to use violance to achieve their aims. Democracy opens up avenues for resistance and we are left with the only alternative of using them all for realising our aims. We adhors all dastardly acts against innocent human beings and we will never resort to them in any case.
CK Abdul Azeez, chairman of policy making council of the party introduced the three topics of our agitation: implement reservation proportional to democracy, stop imperialist intervention and stop hunting minorities. He said the US-lead imperialsm has gone to the extent of desiring to open up its intelligence agencies in the county. That the US does not hand over David Coleman Headly, accused in several terror attacks including the latest one in Pune, to India is an example of how incapacitated our government became before the imperial forces.
Basurendra Babu and journalist James Kalarikkal also spoke.
Poomthura Siraj, Party state vice chairman, presided over the function. Gafoor Puthuppadi welcomed the gathering.
